Defeat Office Insurgents with Cubicle Camouflage

Ok, I don't know WHY I'm even posting this ... it's pretty random.

At work, my desk is positioned in such a manner, that you can't really see me when I'm all slouched behind my computer desk+monitor. Every now and then you can probably catch a glimpse of me poking my head around my monitor to see who just walked into the office.

Hehe, in effect, my desk+monitor provides the perfect fox hole camouflage vantage point from which I can pounce upon unsuspecting insurgents cowerkers/visitors with my discerning glance (Muuhahahaha).

Geek Sheek

At work yesterday, we discovered that one of our computer SATA cables didn't work.

So I decided to strip off the red insulating jacket (just to make sure everyone knew it was busted). Then I discovered that the attached connector caps also doubled well as clasps (see where I'm going with this? ;) .

To conclude, I now have a geeky spiffy new/old necklace that consists of 4 reddish white wires, 4 steel wires, and 2 SATA connectors w/caps attached to one another. :D

Oh No! My Desktop Died!

- Doctor, Doctor! What do I do!?!?

- Well son, first you've got to tell me what the symptoms are.

Don't Pull an "Ash"

Ok, I've got a cowerker here named Ashutosh (Ash for short). Ash likes to build interest on many different technologies that he randomly finds online.

For example, there's an opensource Content Management System called Typo3 that is very powerful and scalable. Ash, naturally, was very quick to propound upon the many positives of using such a powerful and complex system. Of course, he neglected to also indicate the very steep learning curve associated with this CMS. In effect, he pulled an Ash.

Update - Computer Desk/Chair Command Center, Part Two (Minus 1.5)

Ok, so here are four (count'em, FOUR) pictures of where I'm at right now with my faulty COMMAND CHAIR FOR GLOBAL DOMINATION project. The right-hand swinging shelf/platform with the vertical arm on it can't handle the extra weight of my 19" flat panel DELL monitor :(

Update - Computer Desk/Chair Command Center, Part 1.5

Here are two images of what I thought was halfway through my EVIL OVERLORD COMMAND CHAIR project.

Update - Computer Desk/Chair Command Center, Part One

Here is a belated picture of the start of my COMMAND CHAIR TO RULE THE COSMOS project ;)

Computer Desk/Chair Command Center, Part Two (Minus 1.5)

Ok, so my plans for global geekworld domination suffered a slight setback over the weekend.

It turns out that the swinging platform that's sitting on the right chair-arm can't handle the weight of my 19" LCD monitor ... DOH!

So now I have to figure out an alternate method of floating the monitor infront of the chair while still making sure it can swing out of the way when I want to get out of the chair.

Computer Desk/Chair Command Center, Part One

Ok, so I'm well on my way to finally replacing my "so 90s" computer desk. Replacing it with what; you might ask? Well I'm going to take a Adirondack Muskoka chair (see below) and then add some keyboard mounts (plural!) + a swingout table for the monitor. And of course, I'll be attaching the 5 different speakers for the 5.1 surround sound system in their appropriate locations ;)

Laptop On The GO

So I'm sitting on the GO train typing on my laptop ... gawd, I feel like such a geek ... hehehe ;)

The GO train just started moving, and I'm still typing! Hehehe, sorry, this is new to me ... this whole without wires thing is pretty spiffy. It's quite the heady feeling ... even if I don't have access to Google right now. I guess when I finish typing this up, I'll just play some solitare to pass the time until I reach my stop.
